Jessica Spurway

Jessica has lived in Bath all of her life. After completing her art GNVQ at the City of Bath College in 1998 she went on to completed her 3 year degree in Graphic Design at Swindon College, which finished in 2001.  Jessica then spent the next 10 years working in retail management but still followed her passion for arts and crafts as much as she could in her spare time.

Jessica was always inspired from her childhood by her grandmother’s talents for knitting and sewing.  She now uses those skills that have been passed down to her to create jewellery, ragdolls, quilts and other household furnishings.  Her grandfather’s love for wildlife and animals can be seen through most of her work.

More recently Jessica has tapped back into her jewellery making skills, making items using glass beads and a mixture of Gold, Silver and Copper.  As her collection grows, you can see more intricate traditional bead weaving with a lovely flash of bright colour and occasionally a touch of neon!

Her methods include Kumihimo – a Japanese form of braid making but instead of using traditional cords she uses beads and nylon.  Brick and Peyote stitch is another popular method used.
