Susie Grindey

Susie Grindey graduated from the University of Wales College in Newport in 1996 after completing her degree in Animation, Illustration and Graphic Design. After leaving college she worked as a Graphic Designer and a food-packaging designer for several years. Since 2002 she has been a freelance painter and illustrator.

Susie has worked on numerous commissions including food illustrations for Bass Brewery, story board ideas for a rugby title sequence for BBC Wales, illustrations for children's cookery booklets and exercise posters for the Welsh Assembly Government. She has also designed plate surface images for V&A Marketing and puppets for Roald Dahl's BFG at the Dolman Theatre.

Her work was included in the Welsh Artist of the Year Exhibition in 2001, 02 and 03 and she has also shown in the Beetroot Tree in Derbyshire, Renaissance Gallery, Usk and the Oriel Mostyn Gallery in Llandudno. Susie says of her work: 'I am influenced by old quirky buildings and the sea. I love bright colours, textures, typography, fabrics, old bits of paper and sparkly bits! Although my paintings are not realistic I do try to remain true to the place I am trying to capture.'
